Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is ready to smash the club's wage structure to land Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch.
The News of the World says current top earner Kenwyne Jones is on £50,000-a-week, while Crouch, 28, takes home £75,000-a-week.
Bruce is determined to bring Crouch to the Northeast.
