Sunderland skipper Lee Cattermole was shocked by their defeat at home to Blackpool.
The hosts were left to rue a string of missed chances, while they were cursing their luck when Darren Bent rattled the crossbar with a late free-kick.
"It was one of those games," Cattermole told safc.com.
"If you don't score when you get the chance it's going to come back and haunt you in the end and that proved to be the case.
"We were still trying to play though, and credit to Blackpool. We knew it was going to be a tough game. It just wasn't our day.
"They were slicing balls and giving us chances, clearing things off the line, we hit the bar, it wasn't happening for us.
"I've never seen anything like it and certainly I've never played in such a game."
The midfielder added: "All we have to do is keep going.
"If we play the same way and create the same number of chances against Blackburn we will give them a tough game."
