The majority of Keane's dealings in the transfer market have had United links - and former Southampton striker Jones is no exception.
The Trinidad & Tobago international said: "I had a trial at Manchester United in 2002. I don't think the manager knows it but I have a picture of me and him back at home.
"Me and the other lads did well and we moved on to Middlesbrough for a bit without really hearing anything of what they thought at United.
"It was the first time I met Dwight but the gaffer was being typical Roy Keane. Composed, picture, then move off. There was no conversation because they were off to training.
"Did he smile? No. I didn't bring the picture with me either. It's locked up about 4,000 miles away. I didn't even remind anyone of it."
