Sunderland are chasing TP Mazembe defender Stoppila Sunzu.

The Journal says there is debate over whether the player - a recent target for Reading - is out of contact, however, with his Congolese club TP Mazembe claiming he is under contract for another two years.

He is rated at around £3million - Sunderland would not pay that for an unproven defender.
