Sunderland are keen on signing Diego Contento on loan from Bordeaux.

Sky Sports is reporting that the Black Cats see the German left-back as an apt replacement for Patrick van Aanholt, who is wanted by Crystal Palace.

It appears as though Dutchman van Aanholt is set to link up with former Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce at Selhurst Park, which has prompted David Moyes to move for Contento.

The 26-year-old has been with Bordeaux since 2014 having joined the French club from Bavarian giants Bayern Munich after helping them win three Bundesliga titles, three German Cups and the Champions League.
