Sunderland seek to grow profile in US

Sunderland are seeking to expand their profile in the US.

The Black Cats have already built strong links throughout Africa, highlighted by principal sponsor Bidvest, the tourism partnership and academy in Tanzania and partnerships with Ghanaian football club Asante Kotoko and South African team Bidvest Wits.

Interest in the club has grown massively in the US with broadcasting giants NBC securing live Barclays Premier League games from this season.

Sunderland commercial director Gary Hutchinson said: "Interest in football is growing in America and more people are beginning to know about Sunderland AFC. We have met with a lot of potential partners whilst on the visit and hope to continue to grow the club's reputation, attracting new businesses on board."
