Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has been impressed by the turnaround of defender Santiago Vergini since he joined the club.
The 25-year old arrived at the Stadium of Light on loan from Estudiantes in January but had a difficult beginning to life in England when making a number of errors in his early appearances.
But Poyet moved him to right-back and he excelled for the Black Cats which has prompted the boss to speak of a possible permanent move for him in the summer.
"Vergini pleases me a lot for different reasons," said Poyet.
"Firstly because I brought him here and I know him both as a player and as a person and know how important it was for him to succeed in England.
"He was playing out of position so it is even more impressive what he has done."
