Sunderland's Ji confident South Korea can overcome loss of Arsenal's Park

Sunderland striker Ji Dong-won is ready to fill the void left by Arsenal's Park Chu-young.

The Gunners attacker was left out of Choi Kang-hee's South Korea squad for upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifiers because of his military service issues but Ji is confident that the other Taeguk Warriors players can step up to the plate in the absence of their star scorer.

"Of course I feel the pressure and responsibility. But the players will discuss with each other how to minimise the damage," said the Black Cats youngster who received his first senior call-up.

"Actually, I've never imagined national team without him. A definite starting member is omitted. But the rest of us should fill the void."

South Korea meet World Champions Spain in a friendly in Switzerland on May 30 before taking on Qatar and Lebanon in June qualifiers.
