Sunderland's Bruce: Look how Man Utd have responded from derby thumping

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has spoken highly of Manchester United and the way they have bounced back from the horror showing against crosstown rivals Manchester City two weeks ago.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men were hammered 6-1 at Old Trafford but have responded well by winning their last three matches in all competitions and producing clean sheets.

Ahead of Sunderland's trip to face United tomorrow, ex-Red Devils skipper Bruce was full of praise for the job Fergie has done with the squad since that debacle against City.

"Very, very quietly, they have played three games since, they have won the lot and not conceded a goal, which is typical of the mentality he [Ferguson] has brought to the club over 25 years," Bruce said.

"That's what he has bred into them, that's what he has achieved.

"There is always going to be a funny result or a horrible result here and there. It's how you respond."
