Sunderland's Bent to let club form do his talking

Sunderland striker Darren Bent will continue to let his club form do the talking for him in the lead-up to this year's World Cup.

The Black Cats ace has bagged 21 goals in 32 appearances since his move from Tottenham in the summer and although he has admitted the World Cup is a major goal, he just wants to remain in good form in the Premier League which in turn will give him every chance of being selected for South Africa.

"I want it more than anything, to play in the World Cup," he told Sky Sports.

"I scored a similar amount of goals four years ago and didn't go and it's funny that it could happen to me again this season.

"But (manager) Steve Bruce has been rooting for it 100 per cent and if I can keep going, do my talking on the pitch rather than off it, I might be there.

"I have scored a lot of goals this season, but to go to a World Cup at the end of it would really top it off."
