Sunderland need to pick up points very soon otherwise they will be crashing down to the Championship according to Adam Johnson.
The winger scored a fine goal as the Black Cats lost 2-1 to West Ham United on Monday night which has them sitting in 19th place on the Premier League table, five points from safety.
With just eight fixtures remaining, time is running out for the Wearside club and Johnson just hopes they can secure enough points in the final six weeks of the season to ensure they do not plummet into the second tier.
"It's another game down. We keep saying 'This is the game, this is the game' but time is running out now. The games are running out and we have got some tough ones coming up," said Johnson.
"We have to capitalise on the games at home, which we haven't done all season. We have got four home games left and I think if we win all four, we have got a chance. There are still eight games and points to play for."
Gus Poyet's Sunderland next meet sixth-placed Tottenham at White Hart Lane next Monday night.
