Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is lining up a move for Doncaster midfield man Brian Stock.
The Geordie has been a long-time admirer of the Wales international at the Keepmoat Stadium, says the Daily Star Sunday.
He tried unsuccessfully to lure Stock, 27, away from the Championship last season when he was manager of Wigan.
Stock has now made it clear he wants to test himself at the highest level and Doncaster won't stand in his way if they can get £2m for him.
Promoted duo Wolves and Birmingham have both been keeping tabs on the situation, along with Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies.
