Sunderland have joined the race with Celtic and Tottenham to sign Middlesbrough midfielder George Boateng.
The Dutchman almost moved to White Hart Lane in January but the deal fell through when Didier Zokora refused a move the other way. Boateng admitted last week he will be leaving Boro.
