Sunderland have joined the Bosman battle for Feyenoord midfielder Tonny Vilhena.
The Daily Mail says the Black Cats are among five Premier League teams chasing the Dutch Under-21 international. Bayern Munich, Roma, Juventus and Monaco are all said to have monitored his progress too, but Vilhena is said to be keen on a move to England.
With his former coach Ronald Koeman in charge at Southampton, they have long been considered favourites to land the player who usually operates as a central midfielder, but has also proven his mettle as an attacking midfielder and also out on the left wing.
Leicester City also considered a move for him in January and could make a move again in the summer to bolster their thin squad ahead of a campaign in Europe next season. West Brom and Swansea are the other sides linked with him.
