Sunderland are expected to join the battle for Wigan Athletic winger Antonio Valencia.
The Ecuador international is leaving Wigan this summer, with Manchester United and Real Madrid being linked with £15 million bids for the midfielder.
However, The Times says ex-Latics boss Steve Bruce may also aim to take the winger to Wearside.
