Sunderland are reviving their interest in Birmingham City defender Scott Dann.
The Daily Mail says Stoke City offered £8million for Dann and Birmingham teammate Cameron Jerome but the Championship side want closer to £14m for the pair.
Sunderland manager Steve Bruce did have concerns about the severity of Dann's hamstring injury, sustained during the Carling Cup semi-final at West Ham United, and had made a first enquiry about Roger Johnson.
But as talks with Stoke have stalled, Bruce has moved to take advantage of Birmingham's poor cash position and will be hopeful of securing a deal at far less than the £12m originally quoted.
