Sunderland remain at loggerheads with Inter Milan over the future of Ricky Alvarez.
The Evening Chronicle says the Argentina international spent last season on loan with the Black Cats, with the deal involving a loan fee of around £1.5m, with a further £7.5m due this summer to convert the move into a permanent switch.
That permanent move depended upon Sunderland avoiding relegation – a condition they fulfilled.
But Sunderland do not want to keep Alvarez and are expecting to rip up the deal.
