Sunderland have been forced to recall goalkeeper Trevor Carson from his loan at League One outfit Bury.
The Black Cats are in need of back-up for summer signing Kieren Westwood who will take the reins following the broken nose sustained by number one custodian Simon Mignolet on the weekend which adds to the ongoing knee injury to Craig Gordon.
23-year old Carson is now back with Sunderland for this weekend's meeting with Manchester United at Old Trafford after making eight appearances for Bury who are placed 16th in England's third tier.
