Sunderland are being linked with Celtic striker Georgios Samaras.
Calciomercato.it says Sunderland have made contact with Samaras' camp in recent days about the prospect of returning to England this week.
The former Manchester City striker is ducking new contract talks with Celtic and is also being linked with Atletico Madrid and West Ham United.
