Sunderland are ready to welcome Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates in a permanent deal.
The Daily Star says Liverpool are on the brink of signing Charlton Athletic defender Joe Gomez.
A move for Gomez is likely to signal the departure of centre-back Coates to Sunderland on a £4m permanent deal.
The 24-year-old spent a successful season on loan at the Stadium of Light last term.
