Sunderland are ready to pounce for Tottenham midfielder Wilson Palacios.
Napoli have pulled back from talks with Spurs over the Honduras international due to fitness concerns.
The Italians also question Tottenham's £14 million valuation.
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is waiting in the wings having initially brought Palacios over from Honduras in 2008 when he was managing Wigan Athletic.
