Sunderland push for Charlton's Reid

Sunderland boss Roy Keane is trying to lure Charlton Athletic's Andy Reid to the Stadium Of Light.

Boss Roy Keane looks set to turn to another Irishman as Sunderland battle against Premiership relegation.

Charlton Athletic wide midfielder Andy Reid is believed to the subject of the Black Cats' attentions, with reports suggesting that Keane has offered the London club £2.5m plus winger Greg Halford in return for the Ireland international.

25-year-old Reid has impressed at the Valley since making the move across town from Tottenham Hotspur in 2006, and Charlton are believed to be reluctant to part with one of their creative men as they chase a speedy return to English football's top flight.

However, Sunderland are confident that the lure of the swap deal may persuade Addicks boss Alan Pardew to cash in.
