Sunderland have pulled back from their push for New York Red Bulls attacker Tim Cahill.

The Journal says a move for Cahill, which has been discussed with his MLS side New York Redbulls, has been pushed onto the back burner.

The Aussie has been a loan target for the Black Cats.
