Sunderland boss Roy Keane admits he may go down the loan route for the January transfer window.

"You could end up looking at more loan deals - but then top-quality players won't want to go on loan because they feel they are better than that," he said.

"It was something we hit lucky upon last season when we brought in Danny Simpson and Jonny Evans, who were desperate to play first team games and who were outstanding for us.

"Hopefully we can do the same again, but either way, loan deal or permanent move, we've got to make sure that the players we bring in are right for this club."
