Sunderland are ready to expand the role of caretaker manager Kevin Ball.
Ball will be handed greater responsibilities at Sunderland even if he is not appointed head coach on a permanent basis, says The Journal.
Ball - who as senior development coach, looks after the club's under-21s - will be handed even more senior responsibilities once the new manager is in place.
