Sunderland have offered £4 million for Charlton Athletic midfielder Andy Reid.

Reid joined the Addicks from Tottenham in a move which could have amounted to £3million in August 2006, and has made 23 appearances so far this season.

If Keane's move proves successful, it would be his fifth capture of the January transfer window.

Loan signing Jonny Evans, French youngster Jean-Yves Mvoto, Manchester United full-back Phil Bardsley and Sweden striker Rade Prica - who scored on his debut against Birmingham last night - have all moved to Wearside this month.
