Sunderland are making a move for Sporting Lisbon striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel.

The Mirror says Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill has been sounded out about Van Wolfswinkel.

The Portuguese club may be willing to sell on the cheap this summer after initially wanting in excess of £15m.

But Sporting may have to sell players after a disappointing season and there has been interest from Italy and England in the wonderfully named Dutch international.
