Sunderland have not given up on signing Danny Rose - despite Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas appearing to dash their hopes.
Villas-Boas is adamant they won't sell Rose outright.
Martin O'Neill has made no secret of the fact that he would love to convert Rose's season-long loan deal into a permanent move in January, and he was hoping to sound Spurs out about the 22-year-old's future after Saturday's game against the Londoners, says the Sunday Sun.
