Sunderland No2 Eric Black admits he's impressed by the standard of this season's Championship.

QPR currently lead the chase for the title, with Norwich City in second place being hotly pursued by four strong contenders.

Welsh rivals Swansea and Cardiff head the play-off pack, followed by Leeds United and Nottingham Forest - both former top-flight powerhouses.

"There are some excellent teams in the Championship, which makes it such a hard division to get out of," Black told safc.com.

"Although the season's coming to an end there's still plenty of twists and turns to go yet.

"It's a bit of a marathon to get promoted from that league, so a team of fit and strong players with good character is needed.

"There's some quality up at the top there, although obviously some investment would be needed.

"But I'm sure that any of the current top six in the Championship could cope in the Premier League."
