Sunderland No2 Black: Bruce wants top ten finish

Sunderland No2 Eric Black says they want to finish inside the top ten this season.

The Black Cats can mathematically make sure of survival this weekend by beating Burnley as they look to finish Steve Bruce's first campaign in charge on a high.

Black says the Black Cats are still targeting a top-half finish and says the squad still have "plenty to play for."

"The manager has targeted the teams above us and we still believe we can accrue enough points to finish tenth, although Saturday's result was a big blow," he told safc.com.

"The biggest disappointment was the game was there for the taking if we could have lifted it another gear.

"That wasn't the case and now we must respond and let the supporters know we are still a competent team. The players will be ready to go."
