Sunderland and Newcastle United both passed up on the opportunity to sign new Chelsea defender Papy Djilobodji, according to reports from the Chronicle.
Chelsea made a swoop for Djilobodji from Nantes on deadline day and the transfer most certainly surprised quite a few people as he was a virtually unknown quantity to many fans in the Premier League.
Now in another surprise revelation regarding Djilobodji, it has been claimed that north east duo the Black Cats and Magpies were offered a chance to sign the Senegal international a few days before the end of the window but decided against the move.
