Jack Rodwell is planning to force his way back into the England national team setup after completing his transfer to Sunderland.
The 23-year old midfielder has joined the Black Cats from Manchester City for £10million and is now eyeing a return to international football after making the last of his three appearances in June 2013.
"Watching the World Cup left a little bit of a bitter taste in my mouth. I was supporting the team 100 per cent but I also wanted to be there so I think it's time I put that right, get back playing and get back in the squad," said the former Everton young gun.
"Without doubt the last couple of seasons I have not played nearly enough football as I have wanted to play.
"The regular football is the most important thing for me, to play football and get back to enjoying it, so this is a great place for me to be.
"It's such a good club with passionate fans and I can't wait to get on board."
