Sunderland face competition for Liverpool striker David Ngog.
The Daily Mail says Ngog has had interest from abroad back in his native France and Germany and that may still be where he prefers to move but he is not against a move to the North East.
Sunderland believe he was impressed by the club and realises they still have strong ambitions, despite selling Darren Bent.
With Manchester United's Danny Welbeck also unsure of his future, with Everton interested, Ngog would be a useful addition at around £5m. He struggled at Anfield but less expectation may help him develop in the Premier League. Stoke are also keen.
