Sunderland have been told to almost double their opening offer for AZ Alkmaar striker Jozy Altidore.
The Daily Mail says Sunderland's £4m offer for AZ Alkmaar striker Altidore has been rejected. The 23-year-old, valued at £7m, scored 23 goals last season.
An AZ spokesman said: "A first bid was insufficient. Now we wait."
