Sunderland have tabled a bid for Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh.

The Times says Sunderland have offered around £6 million for Chamakh, but Bordeaux are holding out for a fee closer to £10 million.

The Morocco forward has been offered a four-year contract worth about £45,000 a week to move to Wearside.
