Sunderland are making a late move for Arsenal fullback Mathieu Debuchy.
The Daily Mail says Sunderland are trying to hijack Aston Villa's bid to land Debuchy.
Remi Garde has wanted the French right back to bolster Villa's back four all through this window but has been left frustrated by Debuchy's reluctance to provide him with an answer.
That has now opened the door for Sunderland and manager Sam Allardyce spent Monday in London trying to secure a deal with Arsenal and Debuchy that would take him to the Stadium of Light.
Should terms be agreed, Debuchy would join Sunderland on loan until the end of the campaign.
