Sunderland are chasing Southampton midfielder Andrew Surman.

The Daily Mail says Black Cats boss Roy Keane is preparing a £1m offer after receiving good reports on him, but is likely to face competition for the midfielder, who is 21.

New Southampton manager Nigel Pearson will try to hold on to Surman, who has played for England Under-21s.
