Sebastian Larsson was delighted to score in Sunderland's draw at West Bromwich Albion.
The Swede now hopes to go on a scoring run.
"When I scored our first goal of the season at Liverpool a few years back, I went on to score quite a few so hopefully, that will happen again," he said.
"That's something I need to improve on but at least the first goal has come a little bit quicker than last time.
"I feel good. I've been really looking forward to this season, more than any other for a long time.
"I just feel we're going places and think we're going to have a decent season.
"There are encouraging signs and that's why it was so important not to lose the opener because that would have been devastating."
