Sunderland midfielder Jack Rodwell has welcomed the arrival of new manager David Moyes.

Rodwell was handed his first-team debut by Moyes during his tenure as Everton manager, and the 25-year-old has revealed what his former mentor will bring to the club.

“Its brilliant news and we have a great manager at the club," Rodwell told the club's official website.

“I've worked with him in the past and he's going to be great for the club so moving forward it will be a great appointment.

“He brings passion, desire and work ethic to the club and he expects 100% from all the players, but I'm sure that's exactly what he will get from the squad."
