Sunderland midfielder Craig Gardner enjoyed his partnership with David Vaughan for victory over Stoke City.
Gardner is excited by the potential of their combination.
"Things worked well in midfield - David is a top-class footballer and we're good friends off the pitch too," he explained to safc.com. "Hopefully we can continue doing well and showing that form every week.
"I can get forward with David sitting in; he's a quality player and showed that while he was with Blackpool."
