Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has made a bid for Manchester United striker James Wilson.
The Daily Mail says Sunderland were quickly rebuffed in an enquiry to take Wilson on loan last week.
Poyet was interested prior to getting the go-ahead on Jermain Defoe but Wilson is very much part of United manager Louis van Gaal's plans.
Interestingly, former United striker Danny Welbeck, now of Arsenal, kicked off his Premier League career on-loan with the Black Cats.
