Sunderland are locked in talks for Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson.
The Daily Mail says talks between Sunderland and Gibson are progressing well and he has agreed terms on his £5m deal.
Gibson, along with United team-mates Wes Brown and John O'Shea, was the subject of a £12million bid from Sunderland.
The Ireland international has reluctantly accepted he will have to quit United in search of regular first-team football and he will hope to kick-start his career on Wearside.
It is understood that Brown and O'Shea are still considering their options.
