DeAndre Yedlin admits his move to Tottenham has certainly not gone as planned.
The speedy American full-back joined Spurs from MLS club Seattle Sounders in January after signing a four-year deal in the summer of 2014.
22-year-old USA international Yedlin made just one appearance for the North London club before Mauricio Pochettino sent him on loan to Sunderland this past summer where he has since made five Premier League starts, helping him get past the disappointment at White Hart Lane.
"From when I started with Seattle all the way through the World Cup, everything had gone pretty smoothly," he told Sports Illustrated.
"Then there was this roadblock. I'd never experienced that before.
"So it was a time I really had to learn about myself and figure out how to get through it."
