Sunderland legend Gabbiadini: Short must get next manager right

Sunderland legend Marco Gabbiadini says chairman Ellis Short must get his managerial choice spot on.

Caretaker-manager Kevin Ball will take charge of team affairs when Liverpool visit Wearside in the Premier League today.

Gabbiadini, who scored 87 goals in 185 games for the club, told the Daily Star Sunday: "Gus (Poyet) was a great player and he is a personality.

"He is out there looking for a job and he did a decent job at Brighton.

"But the issue the chairman has got now is that he can't really afford to make another mistake - we've had three managers in the space of a few months.

"They have to make sure there are no mistakes again."
