Sunderland are chasing Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko.
The Sunday Mirror says Sunderland are expected to firm up interest in striker Pavlyuchenko this week by tabling an £8million offer for the wantaway Russia striker.
But that is likely to fall short of Spurs' demands as they look to recoup at least £12m, which is around £2m short of what they paid Spartak Moscow in September 2008.
For his part, Pavlyuchenko has declared he wants to stay at White Hart Lane.
