Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is launching a £7 million bid for Marseille captain Lorik Cana.

The Mirror says Bruce had talks with the midfielder, and looks to be in pole position with Hamburg and Everton also interested.

Bruce turned to Cana after failing to land Wigan's Lee Cattermole.

Cana will be pressed to give an answer in the next few days.
