Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio is making a bid for Wigan Athletic winger Callum McManaman.

The People says Di Canio is making a £7million bid for McManaman - and try to scare off Roberto Martinez's Everton.

Di Canio has started official moves for the speedy and skillful Scouser, who hit the headlines last season in his breakthrough campaign. The Black Cats are willing to splash out big money on him in an attempt to take him out of Martinez's range.

Everton chief Martinez likes McManaman, 22, but will have to outbid Di Canio to land him - and that may put the move to the Toffees off.
