Sunderland goalkeeper Darren Ward is open to a loan move away.

"A loan deal might be an option, there's always that possibility," he told the club's official website.

"There are usually clubs who suffer injuries or suspensions and they come knocking.

"We are getting to an important stage of the season, whether for promotion, relegation or the play-offs, and it would certainly help from my point of view if there was a chance to go out on loan."
