Sunderland keeper Mignolet: We could have done better against Liverpool

Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet feels they didn't do themselves justice in defeat to Liverpool.

Mignolet feels Sunderland failed to recover from Liverpool's first half penalty and let themselves down after a very good start to the game.

He told safc.com: "To lose 2-0 against Liverpool at home is disappointing especially after we started so well.

"For the first 30 minutes we played well and put them under pressure but with the penalty and the injuries we let ourselves down.

The stopper could not get a hand to Dirk Kuyt's spot kick just after the half hour mark and he believes that was the defining moment of the game.

He continued: "The penalty was a turning point in the game and we were unable to recover the way we should have."
