Sunderland are set to make a move for Napoli midfielder Jonathan de Guzman.

According to reports in Italy, the Black Cats are eager to bring in reinforcements before the transfer window closes and are hoping to facilitate a deal with the Italian club

The 27-year-old is keen on a return to the Premier League after spending two successful seasons on loan with Swansea City and it appears as though the Wearsiders could offer him that opportunity.

It is understood that Sunderland will take de Guzman on a season-long loan with the view to a permanent £3.5million deal next summer.
